What makes Christmas in Gloucestershire so special?
Gloucestershire sits at the crossroads between Wales, the South West and the South East of England. It’s a stone’s throw away from Bristol and its cities (Gloucester, Cirencester and Cheltenham) have history spanning 1000s of years.
It’s an old county that boasts lots of historic buildings, old pubs and cosy, Christmassy architecture. Walking through historic Cheltenham is like being in a Charles Dickens novel or an extra in Love Actually.
The county is also the gateway to the Cotswolds. An area of outstanding natural beauty in the UK and one that encapsulates the picturesque scenery that makes the UK so lovely. A winter walk in the Cotswolds is a perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit as you amble down country lanes while it snows gently around you.
When you can take in atmospheric moments like this it’s clear to see why Gloucestershire is a perfect Christmas getaway.

Go Christmas shopping and ice skating in Gloucester Quay
Christmas is all about gift giving and the festive season wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the shops. Hunting down the perfect gift for a friend or loved one is always fun and you can turn your shopping trip into a day out for the whole family.
Luckily Gloucestershire has no shortage of shops and you can find everything you need to throw the perfect Christmas in one of its many shopping precincts. Watch a pantomime in one of Gloucestershire’s many theatres
What would Christmas be without watching at least one pantomime. This uniquely British tradition is a clear sign it’s Christmas and heading to the theatre with the family is a great way to bond and have a great time.
