Cherry Bird Country Park, the perfect base to explore beautiful Berkshire

There is so much to explore in the South of England. The home counties and the surrounding areas are steeped in history and the South boasts many beautiful national parks and areas of outstanding natural beauty.

When you’re deciding where to visit (you certainly can’t see the whole South in one trip) you should find a location or holiday park which is surrounded by picturesque scenery and has easy access to lots of attractions.

Cherry Bird Country Park is one of those locations and it is the perfect base for couples and families looking to explore Berkshire. Our holiday park has luxury lodges that are available to rent or own and it’s situated right next to the North Wessex Downs an area of outstanding natural beauty.

If you have Berkshire in your sights for your next family holiday, romantic getaway or just a trip with friends Cherry Bird Country Park is one of the best places you can stay to explore the county.

In this article we’ll share why we think Cherry Bird Country Park is an amazing base to see the county and we’ll share a few fun activities you can do that are just a stone’s throw away from our holiday park.

Why staying in a luxury holiday home is a great way to explore Berkshire

Staying in a luxury lodge gives your family and loved ones a holiday experience like no other. If you’re set on adventure nothing gives you the freedom and autonomy like one of our homes. Below we’ve listed a few reasons why staying in an Encore Parcs holiday home is the best way to explore Berkshire:

You can set your own schedule

A holiday lodge gives you unparalleled freedom to enjoy your holiday the way you want too. You don’t need to worry about hotel check in times, Airbnb hosts locking you out or missing breakfast in the morning. You’re in charge of your own schedule and can plan your day however you want.

All the prep room for adventures you need

When you’re staying in your own luxury lodge you have all the space you need to plan out your next adventure. Need to spread a map out across a dining table? You can do that. Need to make 6 packed lunches for a day on the Downs? You can do that too.

Staying in one of our holiday lodges means you’re not crowded into a small hotel room or dodging your airbnb host around the dining table. You have a true base of operations you can use to plan, prep and explore to your heart’s content.

After a busy day adventuring you can truly relax in a holiday lodge

After a blustery day on a fell or wading through a river the only thing you want to do is get home, have a nice hot shower and relax. That can be quite difficult in an airbnb or hotel. The small cramped rooms can lead to more stress and you could find the most stressful part of your day is at the very end.

Staying in your own luxury holiday lodge gives you and your family space to relax, our Cherry Bird holiday homes have a large living space and multiple en-suite bathrooms so there’s no danger of you tripping over each other when trying to relax after a big day adventuring.

Adventure is right on your doorstep at Cherry Bird Country Park, here’s a few things you can do

There are loads of amazing places to explore in Berkshire and Cherry Bird Country Park is right in the middle of the county. It’s surrounded on three sides by the North Wessex Downs and is just a stone’s throw away from the river Kennet. With so much to see and do in Berkshire you’ll have to come back to see it all. We’ve listed our top three things to do below:

Explore the North Wessex Downs

You could spend a week exploring the North Wessex Downs. They’re an area of outstanding natural beauty and they contain many cycle paths, walking trails and lovely villages to explore. There’s also Neolithic monuments to uncover and small historic market towns that have lots of lovely pubs and restaurants to enjoy. The North Wessex Downs could be a holiday all by themselves. You can learn more about them and their attractions here.

Walk the river Kennet

The river Kennet and Avon canal stretch from Newbury to Reading and they provide a lovely, 20 mile walking route for people to enjoy. You can stretch your legs and attempt the whole 20 miles or just walk a section of it and marvel at the wonders of Victorian engineering.

The river and canal both play host to barges and boats; and a walk along its banks can turn up all types of amazing wildlife. If you’re looking for an adventure that doesn’t involve scaling a hill, a walk down the river could be the perfect choice for you. Read up on all the river walks here.

Visit historic Newbury

One of the largest settlements in Berkshire, Newbury is a historic market town that has over 1000 years of history. From Victoiran canals to Georgian townhouses, Medieval ruins and Iron Age hillforts, Newbury is the jewel in Berkshire town and has lots to explore for lovers of history and architecture.
