You’re curled up on the sofa with a hot chocolate or red wine as it snows outside. You can barely see the snowdrops through the window because it’s so dark. You’re cuddled up in an isolated log cabin with your loved ones enjoying a winter break.
Tell us this isn’t your ideal winter holiday dream.
We all love being cosy and taking a break away from the big city in the winter months. It’s a great opportunity to recharge before the madness of Christmas. Whether you’re holidaying as a family, a couple or as a group of friends, hiring out (or owning) a winter cabin is a great way to all enjoy a relaxing mini-break.
With winter days so short you can rise late, cook a delicious breakfast and relax on the sofa playing games or watching movies. When it is light outside you can enjoy brisk winter walks and a trip to the local pub to enjoy a pint and pub lunch.
The darkness of the season is the perfect excuse to enjoy each other’s company and securing your own luxury log cabin is a lovely way to spend a weekend in the UK.
Why do log cabins and winter go hand in hand?
What is it about log cabins and snowy scenes that just work so well? Whenever we think of a winter scene or a Christmas card there’s likely going to be a little log cabin on a mountain surrounded by trees and snow. They always look so inviting but where did that image come from?
Essentially, log cabins were the homes of woodsmen and hunters who used the surrounding trees to literally build their own log homes. These were designed to be snug and warm to help the inhabitants stay warm in the harsh winters when they were logging or hunting.
As time went on people began using these cabins recreationally and now, when we think of a log cabin, we think of a cosy winter getaway.
