What’s on in Northern Ireland this Christmas?

Northern Ireland is one of our favourite places in the world. But at Christmas, it’s extra special. If you want to experience the magic that is Northern Ireland at Christmas, here are some exciting things to do and see that the whole family can enjoy.

Belfast Christmas Market

When: 19th November – 22nd December 2022

Christmas markets are the perfect way to enjoy festive food and drink and browse unique Christmas gifts in a proper Christmassy setting. Belfast Christmas Markets are a magical affair and are not to be missed. Located in the City Hall grounds, the city will be host to an array of international traders offering incredible foods and delightful gift ideas. This year the food court at the Market with bench-style seating makes a welcome return, as does the vintage Helter Skelter, offering stunning views right across the market, and the much-loved carousel.

Lights Switch On & Magical Christmas Experience at Titanic Belfast

When: Light switch on Sunday 20th November 1pm / Magical Christmas Experience 23rd November – 23rd December

Titanic Belfast’s official Christmas Lights ceremony is taking place on Sunday 20th November! From 1pm, the whole family can enjoy live music and family fun as you wait for Father Christmas and his reindeer to arrive! His Chief Elf will be on hand to oversee proceedings before the spectacular chandelier and Christmas lights are turned on at 1.30pm.

But the festive fun doesn’t stop there.

You can also enjoy a Magical Christmas Experience at Titanic Belfast from 23rd November – 23rd December! The whole family can watch the excitement unfold as Father Christmas and his Elves count down to their most special night of the year. You can listen to Mrs Claus tell Christmas tales in her cosy kitchen, pop by the post office to post your Christmas letter and even sneak a peek at the elves in their busy workshop!

Georgian Christmastide at Castle Ward

When: 2nd December 2022 – 11th December 2022

Step back in time and experience a truly authentic 18th-century Christmas at Castle Ward. This year, Castle Ward is transforming itself to allow guests to explore a Georgian Christmastide. And they’re really pulling out all the stops. The Stable Yard will be dressed in Georgian style with Christmas lights, accompanied by living history actors telling you the stories of those who called Castle Ward home during the 18th century. The halls will be wreathed in colourful historical garlands, the dining table decorated with festive foods and rich wines, and the air filled with the scents of Christmas. And there’s even a Christmas artisan market where you can buy Christmas gifts or simply enjoy the delectable food and drink offering.

Enchanted Winter Garden at Antrim Castle Gardens

When: 26th November 2022 – 20th December 2022 (Thursday – Sunday 16:30-21:30)

*An Evening of Inclusive Enchantment will run on Wednesday 7 and 14 December with reduced numbers, lighting and sound levels as well as a Sensory and Quiet room. Both Inclusive Evenings are ideal for children and adults with additional needs.

A visit to Antrim Castle Gardens this Christmas will well and truly get you in the festive spirit. Visit the fairies in Wonderland Wood, drop in and see Santa and meet the sprites in Pixieland who will help fill you with the Christmas spirit. There will also be a Festive Fayre catered for all tastes with local food and drink to be enjoyed. The lights within the gardens are truly spectacular and will leave you awe-inspired from start to finish.
