It’s December which means the Christmas season is upon us! If you’re wondering what there is to do throughout Northern Ireland to get you into the festive spirit, we’ve collected some of our favourite things you can experience. Hopefully there’s something in this list for everyone!
St. Georges Market
One of Belfast’s oldest attractions, St. George’s Market dates back to 1890 and over the years has won awards for its fresh produce, events and its culture. The market is a thriving community of local crafters, makers and street food traders and at Christmas, boasts live music, festive cheer, beautiful decorations and just a fantastic Christmas vibe. Be sure to check out the extra Christmas opening days.
Belfast Christmas Trail
(11th December to 3rd January)
Kids of all ages can safely explore Belfast city centre this Christmas season with the Belfast Christmas Trail! Download the trail from the Belfast One website and do your best to try and spot the colourful Gingerbread House-themed Christmas props in the windows of local businesses.
Get Into the Spirit at Belfast Zoo
(Until 21 December)
On select dates throughout November and December, visitors to Belfast Zoo can post their letters to Lapland and some lucky visitors will catch sight of Santa zipping around in the zoo buggy. During this time of year you can watch the animals receive Christmas treats and remember to follow the Christmas Trail to be in with a chance of winning a plush lion toy!
Christmas at Mount Stewart
How does a gentle winter stroll around the grounds of Mount Stewart sound this Christmas? Children and adults alike will love the White Stag trail for you to follow and you might even encounter Santa’s Sleigh on your journey… After your walk treat yourself to a warming mince pie and a cup of tea and browse the gift shop to pick up any last minute Christmas presents you need.
Castle Ward’s Christmas Murder Mystery
(Saturday 14th December)
If you fancy something a little different, Castle Ward’s Christmas Murder Mystery might be your cup of tea. You’ll be tasked with working out ‘whodunnit as you meet a cast of colourful characters in the candlelit mansion! Afterwards there will be festive refreshments in the tea-room. Yum!
Christmas at Rowallane Garden
From mid-November you can watch the gardening team make wreaths and floral art in preparation for our Yuletide Market. There’s Christmas carols and mulled punch to get you into the festive spirit. And don’t miss Santa and his reindeers this Christmas when they pay a visit to Rowallane for the Yuletide Market on 12th and 13th December!
We’re so glad that when people are visiting their holiday homes in Northern Ireland this year, there are so many festivities for them to enjoy!
