Nearby to our Cherry Bird Country Park in Berkshire is Highclere Castle. Famous as the location for Downton Abbey, the castle boasts over 200 rooms set on stunning gardens and grounds. The Castle hosts a variety of Christmas-themed events like special festive tours, teas and Charles Dickens evenings.
Just half an hour away in the car from our luxury lodges at Aspen Country Park is Kentwell Hall. Although the house and gardens are closed for the colder months, between the 9th and 17th of December, they are hosting a Dickensian Christmas event. Turning back time to 1869, there are performances and pockets of living history to explore at every turn.
Whilst our park at Cherry Bird in Berkshire has travel links to London for a great day of Christmas gift shopping, there are also a host of smaller shopping hubs close by to our lodges.
Aspen Country park is set near the historic town of Bury St Edmunds, famous for their farmer’s market. However, the town is hosting a special Christmas market in the beautiful St Edmundsbury Cathedral throughout November. With over 50 stallholders from across the county, there will be a variety of small businesses and makers to shop with.
The Eden Project, just an hour’s drive from Willow Bay Country Park, hosts their annual Cornwall Christmas Fair. Set in the striking domes of the Eden Project, the fair plays host to a variety of local makers selling clothing, gifts and food. The gardens are also open to visitors at night during the festive period, with Christmas lights and activities for children.
